“‘Live your life in peace and go to church.’ This is what the families of the victims heard when they went to the Supreme Court of the country. No one is punished in Greece if they know someone. And this is completely unacceptable,” Stefanos Kasselakis, who attended the event organized by SYRIZA PS MEP Kostas Arvanitis at the European Parliament in Brussels, emphasizes in a post on social media, entitled: “Tempe: derailment of the rule of law ».

The president of SYRIZA PS notes in particular that “the minister cannot, having received repeated warnings, simply claim that he is innocent – and the prime minister, allow him to run again to ensure him parliamentary immunity”. Mr. Kasselakis points out that in the morning he clearly stated “that if the Greek people trust us with the government of the country, the first thing we will do is to abolish the privileged immunities enjoyed by the members of our Parliament”. “It’s a matter of ethics, it’s a matter of common sense. It is ultimately a matter of Justice so that we are all equal citizens before the Constitution”, he says.

“I say this to all the relatives of the victims: We will never back down. We will be by your side”, he notes.
