EL.AS made seven arrests of people allegedly involved in yesterday’s lunchtime incidents in the city
Yesterday afternoon, the center of Thessaloniki turned into a battlefield, as incidents occurred between hooded men and MAT forces, during the march against the bill for the establishment of non-state universities.
According to thestival, EL.AS. made seven arrests of people allegedly involved in yesterday’s lunchtime incidents in the city.
On Thursday night, there was a new round of tensions in the center of Thessaloniki, where MAT forces were attacked by hooded men. Specifically, shortly after 10:00 p.m., around 40 hooded people came out of the Aristotle University campus on Ethnikis Amynis Street, threw stones and fired fireworks at police forces, who were near the scene.
MAT forces responded with stun grenades, pushing the hooded men towards the university campus.
The seven arrested for yesterday’s incidents are expected to be brought before the Court today. At 09:00 this morning, people from the broader anti-authoritarian space will gather outside the Thessaloniki Courthouse in order to express their solidarity with the arrested.
