A demonstration of protest for the morning police operation to end the occupation at the Law School of AUTH was held by members of student groups who gathered in front of the Administration building of AUTH. The students shouted slogans against the police presence in the universities and against the education ministry bill.

Earlier, a few hours after the police operation to evacuate the occupation of the Faculty of Law building, it was reoccupied by student groups.

A statement about what happened was issued by the member of the Administrative Council of AUTH, Prof. Grigoris Zarotiadis, stating that he himself went to the Law building in the morning, as he was informed of the ongoing police operation and was informed by the officer in charge of the intervention that “their purpose was to clear the building from occupation, without bringing in students and that they would leave soon, as it happened”.

Mr. Zarotiadis shares a relevant video, where – as he notes – it appears that “at 06:51, right behind the police forces who were leaving in an orderly manner, a group of about 25 “rioters in hoods” was obediently and jealously following and wondering “what is the reason of this morning’s “invasive gymnastics”, as the building, after it was “cleared”, then, logically, was reoccupied by the students in accordance with the decisions of their general assemblies”.

He appeals to the Greek Government “to stop the tactics of escalation and conflict”.
