Honor to Alexei Navalny, as a tribute to the Republic, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, spoke to the Plenary of the Parliament.
In the “cradle of Democracy”, our country and in the Greek Parliament, the “temple of Democracy”, Mrs. Metsola began her speech by saying: “I want to pay tribute to Democracy by honoring Alexei Navalny, who was first deprived of his freedom and then took his life. But his legacy and his struggle will live on in the people of Russia and in all of us. For me it is important that we recognize his courage, his courage, here, in this place, because Democracy needs courage. Alexei Navalny knew this and every Ukrainian who fights, who fights in the field knows this, we all know this and we all know that Greece will always be the symbol of the Republic”.
“This ancient nation, which created the architecture, art and philosophy, which shaped our Culture and our thinking and therefore befits the cradle of Democracy which was recently categorized among the 20 most powerful Democracies of the world. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have more to do. It just means that the responsibility of all of us is even greater,” Ms. Metsola emphasized.
