The Military Court of Thessaloniki imposed a fine of 3,600 euros on the 23-year-old who threw a firecracker on the playing field during the Sunday football match between PAOK and Olympiakos.

The young defendant who was referred to be tried in military justice as he is serving his military service in a unit in Thessaloniki, was found guilty of possessing an object that can cause bodily harm, with the aggravating provisions of the sports law, while mitigating circumstances were recognized.

In addition to the monetary penalty, the military judges imposed the measure of banning him from attending and watching all PAOK football matches for 3 years and while the team is playing he will have to report to a police station.

“You missed getting in, so be careful,” said the president of the Military Court, addressing the 23-year-old, who was arrested by the police of the Sports Violence Sub-Directorate of Thessaloniki, after using the video material from the security cameras of the Toumba stadium.

Apologizing himself, he said that he threw the firecracker to celebrate PAOK’s goal, pointing out that his intention was to throw it into the stands and not onto the pitch. He added that by throwing it he did not know that it could cause bodily harm.

The “Two-Headed” was punished with one game behind closed doors for the firecracker and the bottles that were thrown on the field, a decision which, as announced by the PAE, will directly appeal to the arbitration courts.
