With mixed feelings of sadness and anger and with the slogan “this crime should not be covered up”, a protest performance in memory of the dead of the Tempe tragedy took place, this Thursday evening, outside the OSE building in Larissa, following an initiative members of the Independent Association of Agriculture – Agricultural Technology Students of the University of Thessaly. Earlier in the day, the memorial to the victims of the crime was unveiled, as part of the grand march that took place from the city center to the Railway Station.

Crowds of citizens gathered at the scene to pay their respects by observing a minute’s silence and holding roses and candles, which were lit at 11:22 p.m., the fateful time exactly a year ago when the two trains collided in the Evangelismos area, causing one of the most tragic railway accidents of the country.

With a big “why?” to wander among relatives and ordinary spectators of the tragedy, “are we living by a miracle?”, “is our country safe?”, “why is no one paying attention to us?”, the people of Larisa demanded that the culprits be held accountable, in order to “relieve the 57 souls of the murdered”.
