Answer to what she mentioned earlier in her statement deputy mayor of cleanliness of the Municipality of Athens Roxani Bey regarding the erasure of the names of the victims in Tempi in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, sources from the guard of the Parliament give.

According to the said sources, the service officer informed the cleaning crew of the Municipality that there are slogans written in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and in other places.

By order of the Guard they asked that everything be extinguished as usual, without having an image of exactly what the slogans said.

The final decision on the places outside the Parliament is not the responsibility of the Guard.”

In the announcement issued by Roxani Bey apologizes for erasing the names by the cleaning crew of the Municipality of Athens and notes that it was done at the “invitation” of the guard of the Parliament.

In detail in her announcement she states:

“The cleaning crew of the Municipality of Athens erased last night the names of the victims of the tragedy of Tempi, which had been written in Syntagma Square, following the invitation of the guard of the parliament.

I categorically state that I never ordered this to happen and I was never informed of this unwarranted action, which I strongly oppose. The criticism leveled is absolutely justified.

I apologize to the families and to the thousands of citizens, including myself, who demonstrated, demanding justice for the victims of Tempe.”
