The coast guard located an iron boat with 67 men, 13 women and 20 minors on board
Alarm signaled the day before yesterday afternoon at the port Neapolis Laconia, for the rescue of a boat with migrants that was in danger of sinking in the sea area 6.2 nautical miles east of Akrotiri Malea Laconia.
Two LS-EL.AKT. patrol boats rushed to the scene, two (02) E/G-lanches as well as a towing vessel, while a LS-EL.AKT patrol vehicle participated in the investigations from land.
The patrol boat spotted an iron boat, on which were 100 foreigners (67 men, 13 women and 20 minors).
The foreigners transferred to the R/K and were safely transported to the port of Monemvasia and from there they were transferred to a reception area in Neapolis Voion, accompanied by officers of the Port Authority of Neapolis Voion. The transport vessel could not be towed, and no marine pollution was observed.
According to the data so far, the boat had departed from Cesme, Turkey, bound for Italy, while the migrants paid for their transport About $8,000 each.
From the Neapolis Voion Port Authority which conducts the preliminary investigation, in collaboration with the Directorate of Security and Protection of Maritime Borders three (03) of the above foreigners, aged 22, 27 and 44, were arrestedwho were identified as the traffickers of the vessel,
The authorities are investigating the possible participation of the arrested in other cases, as well as their collaboration with members of organized circles with the same or similar criminal activities.
