The Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers (POEDIN) has announced a work stoppage from 11:00 until the end of the working day, a gathering in Klathmonos Square at 12:00 and a march to the Constitution for tomorrow, March 8, International Women’s Day.

“We are striking on March 8 for the protection and expansion of the rights of women who work in Hospitals, Health Centers, EKAV, Welfare”, emphasizes POEDIN.

He adds that in the NSS 60% of serving employees are women. “They fight on the front line, offering quality health services with grueling hours, dozens of outstanding repos and licenses,” reports POEDIN.

He notes that working conditions due to severe staff shortages are exhausting. “One or two nurses work in wards of 30-40 patients. The on-calls of women doctors are continuous without stopping. They work day and night for very low wages like all health and welfare workers. “Several times we have received unnecessary violent attacks from attendants and patients, mainly female colleagues.”
