Crete aspires to achieve its establishment in the events of winter tourism, with the organization of the Pierra Creta ski mountaineering race coming to be added to the island’s portfolio of sporting activities.

From March 8 to 10, Psiloritis will be flooded with skiers from all over the world, as they will participate in the Pierra Creta event, which, among other things, has the support of the Region of Crete.

The number of skiers is expected to reach 250 people and they are expected to live unprecedented experiences, since as is known the ascent to the slopes of Psiloritis will be done without a lift. As part of the official race of Pierra Creta 2024, the children’s race for ages 9 to 16 is also being held, in which children can participate for free. This year’s race will take place the day after tomorrow or, weather permitting, Sunday, March 10, 2024, shortly after the start of the adult race.

Pierra Creta is an “open”, team ski mountaineering race held every two years in Crete. It consists of two routes, route A with an indicative altitude difference of 1800 m and B with an indicative altitude difference of about 900 m.

For their part, the race organizers note that the said race seeks to make mountain skiing known to the people of Crete, but also to show those already involved in Greece and abroad, that Crete is a place for alpine skiing .
