The Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate proceeded on Thursday (7/3) to the arrest of a 60-year-old man, against whom a case file was filed for violation of the legislation on intellectual property and on the protection of subscription services, respectively.

According to ELAS, there was a previous complaint according to which an unknown person was illegally broadcasting live football matches and movie theaters, without a relevant license, while advertising his services on the internet, for a monetary fee in the form of a subscription.

The above was brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney’s Office and a preliminary examination was ordered.

From the research and the analysis of the resulting digital data, the involvement of the 60-year-old in the case was established. A subsequent investigation at his home in an area of ​​Attica, in the presence of a judicial officer, revealed the use of unauthorized equipment and the rebroadcasting of the content of two subscription companies, without the legal subscription and permission.

Specifically, the following were found and seized:

• 10 IPTV Android Boxes, of which 2 were modified to communicate with illegal platforms – TV channel relay servers,

• 8 USBs, on which software for illegal configuration of IPTV Boxes was installed,

• mobile phone, laptop and 3 hard drives.

The arrested person was taken to the competent prosecuting authority and referred to an Investigator, while the seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
