It will be valid until Holy Saturday – 4% cheaper on frozen seafood – Product categories in detail
It starts from today, Wednesday, March 13 and until May 4that is, Holy Saturdaythe Lenten Basket.
In addition to the items already included in the Household Basket which are fasting, such as pulses, rice, pasta and frozen vegetables, halva, frozen seafood and fasting salads are added, the Secretary General of Trade and Consumer Protection pointed out yesterday Sotiris Anagnostopoulos speaking in the First Program.
“For frozen seafood, there are two interesting facts. Two categories will be given from each supermarket for Lent, at least two items, while according to the data of the Hellenic Statistical Service, frozen seafood is about 4% cheaper than it was at the same time. We hope that with the Lenten Basket we will achieve an even greater reduction and this remains to be seen in the statistics in the coming months.”
In general, regarding the implementation of the measures to crack down on accuracy, the general secretary stated that “in terms of cleaning products and personal hygiene products, as well as baby diapers, we have a reduction of between 15 and 20%. These are the official figures, and it is confirmed by the electronic monitoring that indeed the figures which have been declared are honest. There are constant checks to make sure that everyone, without exception, has done their job and complied with the law.”
Furthermore, he added: “Since we have banned promotions when there has been a price increase, it has been observed that all businesses that used promotions as a means of communicating with the consumer have stopped raising their prices and some, in fact, many I would say, have also recalled new increased price lists since the beginning of the year or even before that, that is, around December. So these prices never appeared.”
