The new Minister of Rural Development and Food, George Georgantas, had a meeting with representatives of the Promachonas and Lefkona blocs of Serres.

The producers of the Prefecture of Serres presented to the minister the problems they face, which have intensified due to the energy crisis.

For his part, Mr. Georgantas stressed that the commitments of the government are valid and within the next few days, with the JMs that will be issued, there will be a specialization of the measures, in order to support as many real producers as possible.

At the same time, he noted that the market controls for the Hellenizations will continue systematically and will be intensified.

After more than two hours of discussion, the Minister of Rural Development told reporters that “the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis supports our farmers with actions. As it stood by them to deal with the effects of the pandemic and natural disasters, so it now supports them with concrete measures to deal with the effects of the energy crisis. We talk to them. “The doors are always open for our producers.”

Commenting on today presence of Alexis Tsipras in LarissaMr. Georgantas noted that “if nothing else it is ironic for Mr. Tsipras to appear as a defender of the farmers, when the only thing the farmers remember from him is the heavy taxation and the lack of any support”.
