THE Defence, Security and the Defense Industry will be at the center of it DEFEA Conference – Current strategies for a challenging world which will take place on May 15, 2024 in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

In the wake of the Commission’s strategic decisions to restart the European Defense Industry and in the midst of an ever-changing geopolitical environment that increases the international demand for weapon systems and ammunition, the debate on the defense industry, new technologies, research and innovation in defense systems is becoming more relevant than ever.

The DEFEA Conference – Current strategies for a challenging world is a high-level forum for Defense, Security and the Defense Industry from the international defense and security exhibition DEFEA which aims to capture good practices that lead to the creation of an innovation ecosystem as well as the development of the defense industry and technology. Discussions around key axes such as Research, Innovation, Defense Technology and Defense Industry will take place with the participation of important political and institutional actors, academics, policy makers and industry leaders from Greece and abroad.

The Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikos Dendias will address the opening of the conference, while, among others, the Chief of the General Staff of the National Defense Lieutenant General Dimitrios Houpis, the Security Adviser to the Prime Minister Mr. Thanos Dokos and president of SEKPY Mr. Anastasios Rozolis.

The E.U. and NATO will be represented at a high level by the Director General DEFIS (Defence Industry and Space) of the European Commission Ms. Aikaterini Kavvadas and Pr. Deeph Chana CEO of NATO/DIANA.
In the framework of the DEFEA Conference – Current strategies for a challenging world and in the theme of Research and Innovation, the positions of representatives of defense innovation bodies from the United States (DEVCOM), France (Agence de l’innovation de défense), Israel (Directorate of Defense Research & Development) but also from the Greek organization Defense EduNet Cluster.
In the field of Defense Technology, the discussion with representatives of the EDA (European Defense Agency), the ASD (Aerospace & Defense Industries Association of Europe) and the JRC (Joint Research Center, EU Commission) is expected to stand out, while speeches will be made by representatives of the General Directorate of Defense Equipment and Investments (GDAEE) as well as of GAMI (General Authority for Military Industries) of Saudi Arabia.

Finally, in the Defense Industry section, representatives from industrial associations and bodies of France, Germany, Italy and Greece will speak.
The conference is organized by the exhibition organization company ROTA SA with the cooperation of the SEKPY and is under the auspices of the Ministry of National Defense.
