It started before the Joint Jury the director’s trial Kostas Kostopoulou accused of rape at the expense of the actress Elena Athanasopoulouin July 2010, a case that came to justice after the actress was sued two years ago, in the context of the meToo movement.

At the start of the process the 58-year-old director stated that denies the charge, position expressed from the beginning of the criminal case, claiming that there is no rape but contact with her consent, 21 years old then, plaintiff.

The trial is being conducted in the presence of many artists, actors from the field of theater and television series, who are in court either to testify in favor of the complaining actress or in favor of the director.

Among those on the victim side of the case are actors Markella Giannatou, Maria Tzompanaki and Katerina Didaskalou.

As defense witnesses of the defendant, who because of the case resigned from the direction of a well-known television fiction series, have been declared, among others, Kostas Arzoglou, Byron Kolasis, Melpo Kostis and Christos Xirogiannis.

The first testimony before the court is that of the plaintiff who started recounting what she claims she suffered from the defendant, at the beginning of the summer of 2010 after an outing with the director, with whom she had a friendly relationship, during which she became dizzy from alcohol or another substance – as he mentions – and lost consciousness. The actress reports that she was raped inside the defendant’s car in a deserted parking lot.
