The Athens District Attorney’s Office brought criminal proceedings against the 19-year-old who on Tuesday invaded the 41st High School of Athens and knocked with a hammer to the head an 18-year-old student from Nigeria and wounded the school principal with a knife.

Criminal charges were brought against the 19-year-old for attempted murder with felonious assault on an unsound mind on a consecutive basis, violence against officers, disruption of public service and illegal carrying of a weapon.

The defendant, who reportedly claims he was in self-defensewas taken to the investigator from whom he requested and received a deadline in order to apologize next friday.

He talks to and Makis Synodinos about the scenes of horror experienced by the 18-year-old student from Nigeria at the 41st Gymnasium of Athens when a 19-year-old injured him on the head with a hammer through the hospital where he is treated.

“The bell rang, I entered the classroom, the boy (the perpetrator) came in and hit me on the head” argues the 18-year-old.

Shocked, the teacher shouted “stop” while, as she describes, the principal tried to protect him by taking the bloodied man into his office.

Then the assailant also injured the manager with a knife.

Today the perpetrator will go through the prosecutor’s door to apologize for the shocking attack while the 18-year-old is expected to be released from the hospital tomorrow.
