Controls on lambs and eggs ahead of Easter, they were at the center of the Committee’s meeting held at the Ministry of Rural Development and Food under the Secretary General of the Ministry, Giorgos Stratakos, with the participation of representatives of five ministries.
In his greeting, the Minister of Agricultural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis emphasized that the controls so far have sent a resounding message in all directions that “we are not going to tolerate games on the backs of producers and consumers, we will protect Greek products”.
He pointed out how positive results have been obtained, mainly in relation to milk.
Speaking about the cooperation of the ministries, he noted that in addition to lambs and eggs in view of Easter, checks will also continue on dairy products, honey and fruit and vegetables.
According to the announcement of the HYPAAT, the 15-member Working Group to prevent the “Greekization” of imported lambs and eggs during the Easter period, under the Secretary-General of the YPAAT, Giorgos Stratakos, is composed of Veterinarians from the Directorate of Veterinary Public Health and the Directorate of Quality and Food Safety of the YPAAT, the Meat and Fisheries Department of of the Food Safety Directorate of the Unified Food Control Agency (EFET), of the General Directorate of Quality Assurance of Agricultural Products of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization “DIMITRA” (EL.GO. – DIMITRA), officers of the Hellenic Police (EL .AS), and the Directorate of Economic Police, the Directorate of Interagency Action for Market Control and Countering Illegal Trade of the Interagency Market Control Unit (D.M.E.A.) of the Ministry of Development, the General Directorate of Decentralization and of Local Government, the Ministry of the Interior, the Strategy Directorate of Customs Controls and Violations), the Directorate for Planning and Evaluation of Controls and Investigations (DI.P.A.E.E.) of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (A.A.D.E. ), of the Operational Directorate of the Economic Crime Prosecution Service (S.D.O.E.) of Attica and Macedonia and the Port Police of the Central Port Authority
