Two olives, the first 150 years old and the second 500 years old, will continue their centuries-old life in Agios Dimitrios. These are trees that were forced to be uprooted due to the railway works that are being done in the area of Achaia, but ERGOSE did not want to cut them down and destroy them. Always before uprooting age-old trees, he calls on the municipalities, mainly in urban areas, to respond to their transplantation.
It is a general initiative of ERGOSE and a transplant program, which it activates when its works for the routes of the Greek railways “fall” on age-old trees, which should not be lost.
The municipality of Agios Dimitrios was one of those who responded to the call, the municipal authority found the appropriate places and so ERGOSE brought them to Attica for transplantation.
The transplant took place in the presence of the mayor Maria Androutsou at the junction of 25th of March and Anapafseos streets, the first and in Agisilaou square the second. In the next period, another five centuries-old olives are expected to be moved and transplanted in Agios Dimitrios.
