The Municipal Council Artasunanimously rejected the proposal to install a float photovoltaic station at Pournario lake and the amended Environmental Impact Study submitted for public consultation.
The decision of the Board speaks of “complete omission of negative effects which this facility would have at environment and the smooth functioning of the water ecosystem of the lake”
The ecosystem of Lake Pournario is rich habitathosting a variety of notable species such as carp, flounder, tench, bream, bream, moustache, tulian, wild trout, eel and pike, which contribute to the area’s biodiversity.
In addition, the wetland of the lake is an area unique beauty and of significant ecological valueaccording to what was mentioned in the recommendation of the competent service of the Municipality of Artaia.
The Mayor of Artaion pointed out the need for cooperation with the neighboring Municipalities in order to protect the interests of their place and to find alternative solutions for the promotion of the area.
