“We said it, we did it”, emphasized Mr. Hardalias, adding that “everything we commit to, we are able to implement”
The section of the Epidaurus-Kallonis provincial network, which was destroyed by the bad weather “Daniel” last September, will be delivered to traffic on Wednesday (May 1) in full functionality, as stated by the regional governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, during an autopsy held in the area.
“At the first Special Accountability Session at the beginning of March, I had expressly committed that everything technically possible would be done, so that the road could be opened to traffic with absolute safety for the residents and visitors of the area before Easter” he said in his statements Mr. Hardalias and added: “I am happy, because this commitment also became a reality. We said it, we did it. We are talking about projects that are being implemented, that are being completed. We are moving forward. We are breaking new ground. We take advantage of the potential that our country has. Obviously, we have other issues to solve in the wider region, as our goal is – each time – to be one step ahead and to have taken, in advance, all the necessary measures, so that we do not become spectators in the same situation again. I want to thank everyone who contributed to the project. The technical services of the region, the contractor as well as the municipal authorities, who cooperated fully, so that we remain faithful to our commitments and – most importantly – so that the suffering of the citizen can stop. Everything we undertake, we are able to implement. This is a doctrine of the new regional authority, which will accompany us in the coming years. We are present in every neighborhood to be able to produce work. And that is what we will continue to do».
It is recalled that the governor of Attica had carried out an autopsy at the specific point on January 7, a few days after assuming his duties, announcing the taking of immediate initiatives to solve the problem, after the unjustified delays – as he had characteristically noted – of about four months. By order of the regional governor, the following day the Technical Deed was submitted for the inclusion of the restoration project in the TPA of the Ministry of the Interior, while all the necessary procedures for the announcement of the tender, the appointment of the contractor, the signing of the relevant contract and the delivery of the project were terminated in the minimum prescribed period.
For his part, the mayor of Troizinia-Methanon, Tasos Mougios, said: “Today we are very happy – expressing all our fellow citizens – that the road will finally be safely handed over to traffic. Just as happy will be our visitors who wish to come and visit us on the holy days of Easter. We thank Mr. Hardalia again, who from the first moment has shown his excellent intentions for our country and we hope for further cooperation».
The mayor of Poros, Giorgos Koutouzis, said: “Today is a happy day for the communities of Poros, Troizinia and Methana. Mr. Hardalias, true to his commitments, announced that next Wednesday, a few days before Easter, the way will be given to our societies, for tourism and the needs of our country to function. We want to publicly thank the governor for the accuracy and the actions taken. Good luck everyone, happy holidays».
The regional governor was also accompanied by the deputy regional governor of Nissons, Yiannis Voutsinas, the special secretary of the Region, Elena Rapti, the deputy of A’ Piraeus and Islands of the Northern Region Kostas Katsafados, representatives of the technical services of the Region of Attica and the contractor company
In the afternoon, the regional governor N. Hardalias goes to Poros, where he will meet with representatives of the local government and organizations for the infrastructure projects and development initiatives of the region on the island and then he will attend and speak at the opening of the “East Med Yacht Show” International Exhibition » which is also organized in Poros.
