Ahead of Easter, one in four Greeks is packing. However, according to the SKAI report, most people are looking at the economic margins guided by the cost of gasoline and ferries
Suitcases for holidays of Easter prepares 1 in 4 Greeks counting and recounting the cost of petrol and also of ferry tickets.
Fuel and tolls require at least 150 euros for a trip from Athens to Thessaloniki, while if an island comes into the equation the bill skyrockets.
A family of four to travel to Paros will need 400 euros for the tickets and an additional 100 to take the car, while 196 euros cost only the tickets for a couple without a car who wants to travel to Crete.
The average price of gasoline is marginally below 2 euros nationwide, while in 20 prefectures of the country they exceed 2 euros, even reaching 2.2 euros in the Cyclades.
“Tolls, gas, everything is very expensive. The food in the supermarkets is also expensive, but I think that the Greek always finds a way to have a good time, even on the spot”, says a citizen.
“We would very much like to travel, but it is not possible to travel, there is no financial possibility”, they say, among other things.
Despite the galloping prices observed in transportation fuel as well as air and ferry tickets, it seems that most Athenians will venture out of the sleepy city during the Easter holidays.
Privileged are those who have a house in the village or friends to host them.
