At an intensive pace, checks for illegal seating in the public areas of the Municipality of Athens continue, recording a 9% increase compared to 2023. According to the statistics of the Municipal Police Directorate, in the first quarter of 2024, 2,738 checks have been carried out in Health Interest Stores against 2,506, in 2023.

In the first 4 months of 2024, orders to remove illegal bench seats increased by 54% compared to 2023. Specifically, in 1,246 cases, violations were found and an order was given to remove arbitrary occupation of common space, compared to 809, in the same period last year.

Only for the period 4 to 21 April 2024, 300 orders were given to remove arbitrary occupation of common space compared to only 169 in 2023 and 23 operations were carried out to remove counter seats in Health Interest Stores (K.Y.E.).

In detail, during the period 1/1/2024-21/4/2024 the following have taken place:

2,738 Shared Space Occupancy Checks,

1.246 Orders for the Removal of Arbitrary Occupancy of Shared Space,

466 Music checks (audio measurements) in Health Care Stores (H.I.E.), of which 136 Violations were found and the corresponding lawsuits have been filed with the Prosecutor’s Office,

27 Seals in Stores of Health Interest.
