They were arrested by Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Attica Security Directoratesix – 6 – members of a criminal organization, who were active in the internal cultivation of cannabis seedlings, with the aim of further trafficking the quantities of cannabis they produced and obtaining large illegal revenues.

A case file was filed against them for – as the case may be – violation of the legislation on addictive substances, violation of the Aliens Act and money laundering.

Particularly, evening hours of Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the context of a police operation, those involved were found to have jointly installed a laboratory – nursery for the hydroponic cultivation of cannabis seedlings, fully equipped, with artificial lighting, thus creating suitable conditions for the maturation of the plants, in order to achieve continuous production.

As it emerged from the investigation, the criminal organization having continuous activity, had a hierarchical structure and professional infrastructure for the production and trafficking of significant quantities of raw cannabis with the aim of obtaining illegal profit, while its members had assumed distinct roles, as follows:

  • 42-year-old, the financing and establishment of the cultivation and the recruitment of the labor force, while he himself used winning lottery tickets to justify proceeds from criminal activities,
  • 43 years old, the facilitation of the transport of labor and supplies to the plantation site,
  • 24 years old, the supervision of the cultivation and the control of the plantation, as well as the harvesting, safekeeping and storage of the produced quantities of cannabis, for further distribution,
  • 32 years old, the electrical installation and supervision of the cultivation and the technical control of the plantation and
  • two 39-year-olds, supplying the workforce with food, as well as harvesting cannabis for further trafficking.

In searches carried out in houses, as well as in the possession of the accused, in total were found and confiscated:

  • 215 hemp seedlings,
  • 33 kilograms and 202.9 grams of raw cannabis
  • 3.7 grams of cocaine,
  • 2 vehicles,
  • 8,345 euros, 100 US dollars. and 500 British pounds
  • 11 mobiles,
  • 4 scales
  • 22 winning tickets for a total amount of 28,003.19 euros,
  • 9 bank receipts for the collection of profits totaling 5,793.20 euros,
  • number of keys and
  • complete equipment of laboratories – nurseries for growing hemp seedlings in plastic pots using the hydroponic method.

The arrested were taken to the competent Prosecutor.
