Authorities arrested a 17-year-old in Thessaloniki, after a pedestrian chase. The minor illegally transported five immigrants in a vehicle, while five injuries were reported during the pursuit.

“In the morning hours today (23-02-2022), police officers of the Immigration Management Department of the Directorate of Foreigners of Thessaloniki located a passenger car that was illegally transporting foreigners, moving in the National Road. Thessaloniki – Kavala.
At a stop signal in order to control the vehicle, the driver developed speed, broke the Asprovalta toll bars and then, after losing control of the car, crashed into protective bars and came to a standstill.
Following a pedestrian pursuit, the 17-year-old foreign driver of the vehicle was arrested, who lacks travel documents and a driver’s license.
Five foreigners were reported injured, three of them in the back of the car and two in the luggage compartment, who were taken to a city hospital for medical treatment.
They all lacked documents justifying their legal stay in Greece.
