The new battleship “Averof”, a legendary ship of the Hellenic Navy, is delivered to Greece. In fact, his successes in the Aegean immediately earned him the title “The lucky ship”. It was built in the shipyards of Livorno, Italy, launched on February 27, 1910, and delivered to our country on May 15, 1911. It cost a total of 25,000,000 Greek drachmas, with 1/3 of its price paid by the national benefactor, George Averof, and 2/3 the Greek State with external borrowing.
