Afterward since 10 years the Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Redevelopment of Pentelikos (S.PA.P.), from today “turns a page”, with a new president, the Mayor of Kifissia, Basil Barefoot.
The Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Redevelopment of Pentelikos today there are 13 Municipalities of Atticaafter the changes to the self-governing map with the mergers of municipalities and communities promoted by the implementation of the “Kallikratis” program.

“It is a great honor to be elected to the position of president of the Board of Directors of S.P.AP. With a sense of responsibility and unity I thank the electors of the Association from the bottom of my heart for the valuable support and trust they show in me” said Mr. Xipylytas after the end of the election process, adding that “the protection of Mount Pentelikos is intertwined with the protection of our own lives . We are in the middle of the fire season, and there is no luxury to rest. We must be constantly ready to face with determination and efficiency any challenge or situation that needs immediate intervention. The goal of all of us should be, beyond protection, to look for ways to make the Mount ‘green’ again, with brave financing, so that we can enjoy it both for us and for the next generations”.
An elected official with environmental knowledge and ecological consciousness
Born in Athens in 1981, Mr. Xipolytas has worked in both the private and public sectors. He is a graduate of Coventry Business School and holds 3 postgraduate degrees, MA Environmental Management from Harvard University, MA European Studies from King’s College and MBA from Coventry Business School.
You are elected in the past three times (2006-2010-2014) as Municipal Councilor of Kifissia, the current Mayor and new president of S.P.AP. served for a number of years as Deputy Mayor of Cleanliness, Civil Protection and Environment, with a significant contribution and work. He contributed the most to the implementation of important – innovative projects
that were implemented for the first time in Greece, including the first energy-independent public building and composting at the source of waste.
With his ecological consciousness, he has fought decisively as a volunteer for the protection of Pentelikos, devoting many hours of his free time to the restoration of the natural environment on Mount Pentelikos, while in 2007 he founded the “GreenBelt” initiative, which and with the help of private sponsorships planted more than 18,500 trees in Attica.
