Possible ‘invasion’ of tourists leads the coast of SP to create a task force at Carnival

by

City halls of the coast of São Paulo started this Friday (25) a task force to avoid agglomerations and clandestine parties during Carnival. There is an expectation that they will receive a large volume of tourists not only because of the holiday and the restriction on revelry in the capitals, but also because of the forecast of hot days, with up to 33°C.

In the Anchieta-Imigrantes system alone, the main route to Baixa Santista and the south coast, a volume of 480 thousand vehicles is estimated during the holiday.

In Mongaguá, there will be strategic points. The purpose of the blitzes is to require that tourist vans and buses that enter the city, through the holiday camps, present proof of vaccination of passengers.

In Bertioga, the Secretariat of Security and Citizenship will continue to carry out a task force in the neighborhoods. The operation aims to curb clandestine parties and blows. During the rounds, inspections are carried out in commercial establishments.

In Guarujá, the city government informed that, due to the increase in the flow of tourists visiting the municipality, the security and inspection scheme will be intensified throughout the period, with actions for the fluidity of traffic at the entrance of the city, in addition to organization in the queue of the ferry.

In the city, there is a concern about the use of sound equipment, barbecues on the beach and animals on the beaches. Officials should advise bathers about vetoing these actions.

The operation around the Carnival holiday will have, mainly, awareness actions to try to avoid the dreaded clandestine parties. Over the weekend, the city will enforce the ban with flyers and banners, as well as dusk patrols.

Even in the biggest curve of cases and deaths of the pandemic, raves (types of parties with electronic music) were recorded at Canto do Tortuga, the final stretch of Enseada beach, one of the most popular in the city. Most of them brought together speedboats, yachts and drinks on the high seas. There is no information at the moment of disclosures of similar events.

Even so, other large private parties raise concern. One of the main ones will take place at Casa Grande Hotel, in Enseada, with events prepared for four days: from February 25th to 28th.

The night called Carnaval Corona Sessions will promote several shows with tickets between R$50 and R$2,000, in the case of boxes.

Lucky Scope, a popular bar located in Guaiúba, near Forte dos Andradas, a destination frequently used by President Jair Bolsonaro, will have Carnival marches on Saturday (26) and Sunday (27) from 1pm to 9pm. The place is usually a point of large agglomerations.

The city of Santos reported that, on weekends and holidays, inspection of sanitary measures is reinforced in places with a greater flow of people.

One of the main destinations on the coast, the city of Praia Grande proved to be a point outside the curve.

The municipality reported having set up arenas through the Estação Verão Praia project, in which tourists will find a range of activities, which will be available at 12 points. Attractions include a climbing wall, skating rink, zip-line and bungee jumping.

North Coast

Also waiting for a large number of tourists, São Sebastião, Ilhabela, Caraguatatuba and Ubatuba must mount operations against agglomerations.

The Tamoios concessionaire, responsible for the Tamoios highway, which connects the interior to the north coast, projects that around 180,000 vehicles will travel along the road between February 25th and March 2nd.

In Ilhabela, a decree signed by Mayor Toninho Colucci vetoes on February 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th and March 1st the holding of artistic and musical shows, as well as the use of mechanical sound, private electronic sound devices, in kiosks and bars that use public spaces such as squares, beach, bike path and sidewalks, after 8 pm.

“Even without the official city hall festivities, this is a time when the city receives many visitors, so it is necessary to be very careful. Our population and those who visit us need to maintain sanitary safety measures, such as the use of masks, alcohol gel and social distancing”, said the mayor, in a note published on the city hall website.

Also according to Ilhabela, there will be inspections integrated with the Military Police against clandestine parties and large gatherings.

In Ubatuba, among the planned actions is the inspection of irregular encampments, which must take place on specific days, ordered by the Department of Tourism in partnership with the Military and Environmental Police and the Municipal Civil Guard.

Local authorities are concerned about the popular parties on the 26th, 27th and 28th at Café de la Musique, in Prainha dos Matarazzo. The event invades the dawn and has stateroom tickets that reach R$ 3000.

São Sebastião informed that inspection actions will continue to be carried out to curb possible violations of municipal decrees and clandestine commercial activities. Like the neighbors, Caraguatatuba will also proceed with tours around the city.

In Barra do Sahy, the possible invasion of tourists scares local residents.

“People have already arrived with speedboats and yachts that are worth millions here. They pull over with very loud noises, causing absurd noise pollution. They are allowing street vendors on the beaches, there is barely a place to sit. I often have space to leave my house. Today, there is no adequate supervision”, says canoeist Fabio Paiva.

Sought, the Department of Logistics and Transport informed that, to meet the high demand during Operation Carnival, “the Waterway Department will place all available vessels in the eight coastal crossings”.

In a note, the SSP (Secretariat of Public Security) reported that, between February 25 and March 2, the Military Police will carry out Operation Safer Carnival, with the aim of increasing security and the fight against crime throughout the state.
