Travel will be difficult today for the residents of Lekanopedi due to the unprecedented measures of the Police, ahead of the Conference League final between Olympiakos and Fiorentina, at the AEK Arena, in New Philadelphia.

Already the residents of New Philadelphia are living in a state of… lockdown. Even the simple movement to their homes requires… accreditation, as the entire area is literally blocked off, in order to avoid incidents or even terrorist acts.

Thousands of police officers have been included in the ELAS plan to safeguard the smooth conduct of the great match.

At the same time, a special plan has been prepared for the transition of both Olympiakos and Fiorentina fans to the New Philadelphia stadium. For the needs of the fans’ safe movement, roads will be closed both in Faliro and in the northern suburbs, as the Electrikos along their route from 17:00.

The bulk of the “red and white” fans will gather at the Stadium of Peace and Friendship, in Faliro, in order to be identified and checked, and from there a police escort will be transported with electric cables to Perissos station. From there, always escorted by the police, they will march to the stadium of New Philadelphia.

Fiorentina fans will gather at the OAKA facilities. There the required check will be done and then with chartered coaches, they will be transferred to the AEK Arena.

The operational plan of EL.AS.

The design includes:

  • the set of necessary measures, clearly specifying the number and tasks of the involved police officers and Greek Police services,
  • ensuring conditions for the smooth conduct of the sports match and the parallel events,
  • the protection of athletes and other sports actors, spectators, officials, officials, journalists, etc.,
  • ensuring conditions for the smooth gathering, stay and transport of fans,
  • ensuring a comfortable arrival – stay and departure of the fans from the facility, with special care for people with disabilities,
  • the prevention of acts of violence against persons or things and in general the prevention and discouragement of illegal actions.

The central axis of the planning was the security of persons and facilities, in accordance with the instructions and proposals of the organizing Authority, in an atmosphere of excellent cooperation, with continuous meetings of links between the Hellenic Police and UEFA.

Red, blue and white tickets

The measures provide for the creation two different meeting points for the fans of the two teams (Fan Meeting Points)the movement of which will be carried out in a controlled manner, accompanied by police officers, with ISAP trains and OSY buses that will be allocated exclusively for this purpose.

In particular, the Olympiacos fanswhich have been procured red ticketswill be gathered at a specially configured point in its surroundings Stadium of Peace and Friendship in Neo Faliro. From there on 18:30 they will begin their gradual transfer with ISAP trains, without intermediate stops, to the “Perissos” station, and then they will go to the stadium with a police escort.

The ISAP trains will be used exclusively for the transport of fans and it will not be possible for other citizens to use it.

At the same time, for the fans of Fiorentina, to whom they have been allocated blue tickets, it is planned to gather them in a place at O.A.K.A. , while they will then be transported under strict protection measures to the stadium by OSY buses.

As for neutral fans, they have secured white ticketwill be served by ISAP’s “Irini” and “Thissio” stations, heading, without an intermediate stop, to “Perissos” station.

There is a special provision for serving spectators who use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility. The organizing Authority will provide minivans that will transport them to and from the ISAP “Perissos” station as well as from the Apostolaki park parking lot.

All fans must have their legal ticket, which is strictly personalized, as well as their police ID. The police ask them to cooperate with the instructions of the police officers and the checks that will be carried out by them, in order to avoid any inconvenience or delay.

Already on Sunday evening, the police forces proceeded to seal off the stadium and search all its areas, by specially trained dogs. At the same time, a security perimeter has been created in its external area, through which only those with special accreditation and after strict control can pass.

Therefore, upon arrival at the stadium, fans will be directed to the corresponding spectator access points and will again be asked to show their ticket and ID and will undergo a physical check. The tickets received through the UEFA app have all the relevant conditions as well as the items that fans are prohibited from having in their possession. If they are found to be in possession of any prohibited item during the inspection, they will be removed from the premises and brought to the police station.

The departure of the fans from the stadium will take place, following the instructions of the staff of the organizing authority, in the opposite way, i.e. the fans of Olympiakos will go to the ISAP “Perissos” station, while the fans of Fiorentina will go to the buses that will be located on Dekelias Avenue.
Similar care has been taken for the movement, on the day of the match, accompanied by police forces, the athletes and members of the delegations of the competing teams, the referees and the official guests of the organizing authority.

Which roads will be closed and when?

Already, in the area of ​​New Philadelphia, on Kappadokia, Patriarchou Konstantinou and Chrysostomou Streets of Smyrna, arrangements are being implemented with – as the case may be – temporary and gradual stoppage of traffic and prohibition of stopping and parking.

However, the bulk of the traffic regulations will take effect from tomorrow and will be implemented gradually from six in the morning, with stopping and parking bans as well as a temporary and gradual stoppage of vehicle traffic on streets and boulevards.

Among them are Dekelias Avenue, in the section between Eleftheriou Venizelou and Chalkidos streets in both traffic streams and Heraklion Avenue, in the section between Tralleon and Eleftheriou Venizelou streets in both traffic streams.

The bans will affect:

  • sections of Antheon, Antiochia streets, anonymous street in Rizoupoli Stadium, Vryoulon, Ethn. Antistaseos, El Alamein, Eptalofou, Ionia, Kiutachia, Lachana, Lykourgos, Pindos, Savva Stamatiadis, Sebastias, Smyrna and Troas,
  • along their entire length, the streets of Ag. Triad, Adana, Alexander Papanastasi, Amis, Argyroupolis, Antalya, Bosphorus, Dardanelles, Epikleus, Kallipolis, Cilicia, Mersin, Patriarch Constantine, Silli, Tatoi, Telesius, Phokon and Chrysostom of Smyrna.

During the above traffic regulations, vertical crossings of vehicles will be allowed at the intersections of Dekelia Avenue with Nikolaou Trypia, Proussis, Eleftheriou Venizelou and Anagennisios, as well as National Resistance Avenue with Christou Mantika, Omorfoklisia and Bithynia.

With reference to center of Athensit is recalled that it is prohibited temporary stop and parking ban vehicles on Athena Street in Kotzia Square, in the section between Kratinou and Eupolidos Streets. This regulation is valid from 8 am to 6 pm.

At the same time, in Piraeusfrom 6 in the morning until 10 in the evening a temporary ban on stopping and parking vehicles will be in effect, in

  • Ethnarchou Makariou, in its section from the intersection with Dimitriou Falireos street/ underground street from S.E.F. up to its junction with Poseidon Avenue/Omiridi Skylitsi and
  • Karaoli & Dimitriou, in its section from the intersection with Piraeus Street to the uneven junction with Ethnarchou Makariou Street in both traffic streams.

It is noted that, on the above streets from 5 in the afternoon until 10 in the evening a temporary and gradual stoppage of vehicle traffic will be applied.

The airspace of Attica is closed for helicopters and drones

In the NOTAM edition proceeded the Civil Aviation Service, at the request of the Greek Police, with which the flights of helicopters and light aircraft (drones, etc.) are prohibited for security reasons in the context of the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

The prohibition directive is effective from 14.00 on 29 May 2024 until 06.00 the next day and covers the area of ​​the Attica basin, which includes the points where the sports event will be held as well as related events.

Excluded from the ban are special and state flights and at a height of no less than 5,000 feet above sea level.
