The Coast Guard proceeded to arrest the mother of the 6-year-old boy who died at sea, but the woman was released following the order of the prosecutor.

The 6-year-old allegedly escaped his mother’s attention and went alone to the beach, in Arvi, Heraklion, where he was pulled out unconscious.

At midday today, the Port Authority of the Good Ports was informed that a 6-year-old boy was pulled unconscious from the port of Arvi in ​​the Municipality of Viannos, Heraklion. The boy was transported by EKAV ambulance to the Viannos Health Center, where he was pronounced dead. The mother of the minor was arrested from the Port Station of Kalen Limeni for violation of article 302 of the Criminal Code. (Manslaughter by negligence by omission), while she was released by order of the prosecutor. An autopsy was ordered by the relevant Port Authority, which conducts the preliminary investigation.

In a touching gesture of solidarity, the Arvi community is organizing a fundraiser to collect the necessary funds for the burial of little Nikos in Albania. Local residents have already started contributing, showing their support for the bereaved family.
