The first day of the tour to Thessaly of the government echelon with the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Thanasis Kontogeorgis, who participated in a meeting in Agria Volos for the primary sector of Pelion with the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Triantopoulos, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Nikos Tahiao, has ended , the General Secretary of Rural Development and Food Giorgos Stratakos and the Member of Parliament for Magnesia of the New Democracy Christos Boukoros in the presence of mayors of the region, agricultural cooperatives and farmers.

The government echelon discussed all issues related to crops, compensations, but also the perspective of the primary sector, while there was also a more specific discussion on the reconstruction plan of Thessaly.

Deputy Prime Minister Thanasis Kontogeorgis presented the main axes of the plan, the road map concerning the operation of the Water Management Organization of Thessaly, the government’s policies from 2019 to support the rural population, as well as the framework of the proposals for the revision of CAP. He also emphasized the importance of regional development and decentralization by deepening the cooperation between the central government and local government in order to create the conditions for people to stay in the place with their families and everyone can live with dignity in the place he wants and chooses.

Speaking to APE-MPE about the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Triandopoulos said that “it is a meeting that concerns the primary sector of Thessaly, namely Magnesia and Pelion. An extended meeting with farmers in the area both for the support course after the extreme flooding phenomena, as well as for structural issues of the primary sector of Pelion. For the government it is of particular importance. That is why we are in close cooperation and support farmers and the primary sector. We have done it until now, and we will continue to do it. And before the natural disaster, but also especially after, giving solutions to structural issues that concern the primary sector of Pelion, focusing on the development of the region”.

The Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Triandopoulos, specialized, emphasized, among other things, to the representatives of the farmers and breeders of Pelion that “The goal during the summer is to pay as much as possible of the agricultural world 50% of the aid and from there in addition, to pay the remaining percentage in order to complete the aid which can reach up to 500,000 euros depending on the damage to the capital and the equipment”.

After Agria and the problems of the farmers of Pelion, the government echelon participated in an event in Almyros Volos on the topic of development “the next day for Thessaly and the European Union”, where the deputy minister Thanasis Kontogeorgis, stated that “the faction of the New Democracy remains the dominant political force in the country and this acquis must be preserved with modesty and citizens regardless of party affiliation recognize Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ negotiating ability and the necessary political capital in order to bring the best possible result for the country.
