Speaking to SKAI today, Stavros Balaskas described his case as a “strange case” corpse with a weight on the leg, which was spotted yesterday floating in the Ropesabout 150 meters from the coast.

According to the police analyst, the body of the man, aged around 40 to 45 years, was at least 25 days in the water and was found in great decay. The body, which had a 10-kilogram weight-lifting plate strapped to its leg, “surfaced and found its way to the rocks because inflated by gases».

Due to rotting from being in the water for days, evidence such as fingerprints cannot be obtained. One will help in identifying the victim tattoo that was found on the body and which “refers to a known group”, as Mr. Balaskas said.

At the moment, the suicide scenario has not been ruled out – because the victim’s hands were not tied. However, criminal action seems more likely.

Toxicological tests have already been carried out while it is being investigated whether the corpse has any injuries, bullet marks or anything to show if the victim was beaten or murdered before “they tied the barbell to him and beat him up”, as Stavros Balaskas characteristically said.
