The conclusion of the forensic examination for the murder of 19-year-old Alkis, in the early hours of February 1, in the area of Charilaou, was handed over to the 7th regular investigator of Thessaloniki.

According to the report, signed by the medical examiner and director of the Laboratory of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Lida-Kalliopi Kovatsi, the death of the unfortunate student is attributed to the series of injuries, both in the lower extremities and in the head. Reportedly, the report refers to three injuries to the lower extremities, two to the left and one to the right thigh, as well as two fractures to the head.

At the same time, the investigator is continuing her intensive investigation, pending the results of laboratory tests regarding the DNA obtained from the 12 defendants and its comparison with genetic material found, among other things, in weapons and cars. . At the same time, the lifting of the telephone secrecy is “running” in order to ascertain the communications of the accused.

After the end of the investigation, the file will pass into the hands of a prosecutor who will submit his proposal to the competent Judicial Council which will refer the case to the court.

It is recalled that the twelve arrested after their apologies were sentenced to pre-trial detention.

The Medical Examiner and Director of the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Laboratory of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Lida-Kalliopi Kovatsi, had spoken to SKAI about the forensic examination performed on 19-year-old Alkis.

Regarding the cause of death of the 19-year-old, Ms. Kovatsi said that “the child died from the combination of injuries caused to him in the lower extremities, together with the craniocerebral injuries he suffered. It was the combination of these two that brought about the final result. In no case are we talking about a trauma. “We are talking about many different blows.”

As he said, there was no room for his rescue, as he ended up too soon.

As for whether the blows were targeted, he stressed that “it is not easy to kill a young man, with a height of 1.90, you need to know what you are doing. “My scientific view is that these are targeted strikes by people who knew they would achieve the desired result.”

In fact, the examination revealed many defensive injuries. “The child resisted, tried to defend himself. “He was trying to protect vulnerable parts of the body, such as the head.”

Finally, for the escalation of violence in Thessaloniki, Ms. Kovatsi referred to a similar incident that occurred the same week as the murder of Alkis.

“There was another equally worrying incident that week,” he said. Specifically, a 14-year-old boy was injured by a group of people who chased him.

As the professor said, “we had no worse than being rescued by the hotel staff, outside of which they were beating him. This is pure luck. They asked him what team he was. “They had the child down and beat him.”
