Request to mobile companies to locate the two mobile phones owned by the 59-year-old
The authorities were alerted after the disappearance of a tourist with US and French citizenship in Amorgos. The 59-year-old, who is a retired police officer, went for a walk in the morning, and since then has given no signs of life.
According to ERT, the man started at 7:05 on Tuesday morning hiking from Aegiali following a marked path with a final destination of Katapola, with an indicative journey time, according to a sign, of 4 hours and 5 minutes.
Hours passed without the man showing signs of life, so the friend who was hosting him in the Cyclades became worried and rushed to the nearest police station to report his disappearance.
Police officers of the A.S. Amorgos, in collaboration with the Fire Department and Volunteer Rescuers, immediately started investigations, without any results so far.
From A.T. Naxos, a request was sent to mobile telephone companies to locate the two mobile phones owned by the 59-year-old, with authorities hoping that since the devices have not been disabled or damaged, they will show the man’s location.
