Ioanna Paliospyrou spoke about the lawyer who defended her in the vitriolic attack in May 2020 outside her workplace, Apostolos Lytras.

The well-known criminologist is accused of the felony of grievous bodily harm against his wife, but he confessed to beating her.

“Since yesterday I have been in shock. I had no such indication from the professional partnership we had. I have fallen from the clouds. Beyond that, thinking about what has come to light in recent years, we must understand that just because someone has a very good profession, it does not mean that they cannot be potential abusers. Because I was talking to both of them, I didn’t understand anything,” he initially said and added:

“As a victim of violence, I also want to address the attitude of the environment. They often create a protective environment for a criminal to operate. Covering these people is not achieving anything. It is too early to think whether our cooperation will go forward. It’s definitely a bit difficult under these conditions. I had the impression that he was dealing with a lot of stress.”
