Open the curtain of the conference «Mergers & Acquisitions Summit”, which aspires to explore the exciting field of M&A, highlighting the role Greece can play, the secrets of mergers and acquisitions, and what the future holds for successful market deals.

The conference is held at Athens Concert Hallwith the participation of leading players from the business scene, government officials and representatives of the academic community.

The opening discussion of the conference, moderated by Kathimerini journalist Dimitris Delevegos, was attended by Konstantinos Alexandridis, CFO of PPC Group, and Giorgos Makripidis, Partner, Advisory and Corporate Finance Leader of PwC Greece, who focused on the “art” that is behind every successful deal.

Mr. Alexandridis emphasized that the PPC is transforming from a simple energy company based on fossil fuels, to an international Group with a leading position in SE Europe, focusing on clean energy, customer-centric philosophy and digital transformation. He elaborated on PPC’s acquisitions of KOTSOVOLOS in Greece and ENEL in Romania, while predicting that the energy sector will continue to be at the center of M&A activity. He then referred to important decisions made in these two deals, also highlighting the key characteristics of a successful acquisition.

For his part, Mr. Makripidis expressed the opinion that energy will continue to be a key field for Greek M&A. In 2023, transaction prices for deals in the renewable energy sector came to more reasonable levels than in 2022, he noted, a trend he believes will continue in the coming years. He also emphasized the importance of identifying the aspects that matter most to each party in a transaction, and which will determine the success of a deal.
