Embassy of Ukraine in Athens: We call on the international community to show solidarity

by

“We now need international legal guarantees of security, “A clear European perspective, combined with rapid and effective action,” the Ukrainian embassy in Greece said in a statement. “We believe that we Ukrainians have already won our right to be part of the EU.”

He further urges the international community to show solidarity with Ukraine by “immediately imposing massive (harsh) coordinated sanctions against Russia, isolating Russia from all possible international fora, introducing a full trade embargo on Russia, including “support Ukraine with weapons, defense equipment, ammunition, fuel and anything else necessary to deal with the largest army on the continent, to provide financial support to Ukraine.”

“For three days, a large-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine continues in the heart of Europe. Russian troops have crossed the Ukrainian border through Russia, Belarus and the temporarily occupied Ukrainian parts of Donbass and Crimea. At the same time, Russia continues to attack Ukraine from the east, south and north by air. “Russia is using all its military might to attack Ukraine and has begun redeploying reserve units on its border with Ukraine,” the Ukrainian embassy said in a statement.

It also expresses the gratitude of Ukraine on the sanctions imposed and adds that he expects them to be strengthened in order to stop Russia. “The cessation of SWIFT should be put into operation soon,” he added.

Regarding the negotiations, the Ukrainian embassy states that any war inevitably ends with negotiations and adds: “Ukraine has listened to Moscow’s negotiating position. They know our point of view on the negotiating form and our negotiating position. Therefore, their comments that we allegedly refused to negotiate are just part of their tactics. They try to bring the negotiations to a standstill before they even begin. It is clear that a different approach is needed. Negotiations must be based on common sense and be such that a just solution can be found in the interests of the people and the nation-state of Ukraine. President Zelensky categorically does not accept unacceptable terms and ultimatums for Ukraine. “Only full negotiations.”

At the same time, it calls on international organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and to record all cases of violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law.

Finally, among other things, the Ukrainian embassy in Greece expresses the hope that the Ukrainian community abroad will “join forces with the Ukrainian government in transmitting the truth about Russia’s war in Europe.”
