With the new data, after the announcement of scores and of statistics of this year Panhellenic courtsin conjunction with the disclosure of the number of candidatesit is now possible to estimate the movement of admission bases for the coming academic year, 2024-25.

In total, 90,416 candidates participated in the Panhellenic exams, claiming one of the 68,851 available positions in Higher Education. Of these, 74,847 candidates come from GEL and 15,569 from EPAL.

  • As for the 1st scientific field, of Humanities, the average performance of the candidates was 11.35 lower than last year which was 11.73. “The subject that affected the situation the most was History, where the average performance dropped from 10.10 to 8.94”, commented to APE-MPE the Giorgos Chatzitegas, educator and analyst. As he noted, however, “the expected drop in bases in the 1st science field is offset by the increase in the number of candidates, which increased by about 1,300.”
  • In the 2nd scientific fieldof Positive Studies, the average performance of the candidates was 12.10 – a little lower than last year’s which was 12.30 and according to Mr. Hatzitegas, a small drop in the bases, of the order of 200 to 300 points, is expected.
  • In the 3rd scientific field, of Health Studies, the average performance of the candidates was slightly better than the corresponding last year. “The lower performance of the candidates in the Physics course was compensated by the performance in Biology and Chemistry,” noted Mr. Hatzitegas, adding that the average performance in Health Studies from 11.65 last year was 11.95 this year. For this reason, as he estimated, in this specific scientific field, no significant differences in bases are expected.
  • In the 4th scientific field, of Economics and Informatics Studies, the average performance of the candidates was 10.42 this year compared to 10.45 last year. The population of the specific Orientation increased by 460 candidates and thus, not even in the 4th field are expected special differences in the bases, according to Mr. Hatzitegas.
  • Finally, as far as EPAL is concerned, the average performance of the candidates increased, from 9.21 last year to 9.85 this year in New Greek and Mathematics. “This fact portends an increase in bases, which will however vary by sector”, noted Mr. Hatzitegas.
