The successive abuses of cats in Thessaloniki and more specifically in the wider area of Lagadas are shocking, where two incidents were recorded in the last month alone.

The first case was that of “Hephaestus”, who was found with three of his four legs amputated, however in his misfortune he was lucky because with the proper care he managed to recover and is now recovering.

The second case concerns the gruesome killing of a cat after it was found mutilated and brutally abused, apparently by human intervention.

Kyriakos Agathagelidis, the veterinarian who treated “Hephaestus” in Thessaloniki, spoke about these incidents to ERT.

“It is very worrying that another case of this behavior has been found. Every day we see injured kittens from cars and various other causes, but the mutilations in these cases usually have other characteristics”, said Mr. Agathagelidis, among other things, stressing that a prosecutor’s investigation has been ordered into these incidents and he himself has been called as a witness.
