Decision on the pre-trial detention of five defendants including both alleged leaders of the ring of extortionists in businesses of health interest in the center of Athens, were received by the Investigator and the Prosecutor after the completion of the apology process.

The second group, consisting of six alleged members of the criminal organization, was brought to court in the morning for their apologies, while yesterday Wednesday eight defendants were excused, two of whom were deemed temporary prisoners.

After the apologetic process today, on the way to prison Frthe 43-year-old (“Nancy”), who appears as a managing member of the organization, and her 64-year-old co-accused for running a criminal organization are dismissed. The defendant, a relative of a high-ranking official of the local government, was also remanded in custody.

The judicial authorities also showed the 43-year-old’s brother, as well as two other public service employees, the way to prison.

A young defendant who appears to have been doing the group’s chores has been released on parole.

All 14 defendants are, on a case-by-case basis, facing serious felony charges related to the operation of a criminal organization, which targeted restaurant businessmen.

In total, in the case, the judicial authorities sentenced seven defendants to temporary detention and another seven to freedom with the imposition of conditions.
