Fraud against the State with a loss of more than 1.4 million euros was revealed by the Financial Police Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece.

According to voria.gr, the actions of a 40-year-old citizen, who through the establishment of businesses using “straw men” caused damage to the Greek State, amounting to more than 1.4 million euros, have been verified.

A related complaint was filed, for the investigation of which on-the-spot checks were carried out at businesses and investigations through information systems, applications, correspondence with competent tax authorities and bodies collecting confirmed insurance contributions, as well as other investigative acts.

Hairdressers, gyms and tax dodgers

It emerged that the 40-year-old instigated and/or misled and/or cooperated with natural persons who were declared as owners or managers of 10 companies – businesses, mainly gyms and hair salons, based in the wider area of ​​Thessaloniki and as an undercover person, who exercised the related activity of these, avoided certified taxes, insurance contributions and measures imposed by the Greek State against the above businesses, totaling 1,401,185.28 euros.

The case file that was formed was submitted to the competent Prosecutor, while the competent services (D.OY., EL.KE., Regional Directorate K.E.A.O.) were also informed about their own actions and the enforcement of the corresponding administrative sanctions.
