What does Alexandra Sdoukou, Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, answer?
A long-hour power outage in the area of Rentis on Friday was reported by a TV viewer to SKAI. According to the testimony, a large area was left without power from 14:00 until 3:30 in the morning.
As confirmed by Alexandra Sdoukou, Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy speaking to SKAI, power outages also occurred over the weekend in other areas of Attica such as Piraeus, Kallithea and Petroupoli.
Last week, there was a similar, long-hour outage in Argyroupoli as well.
As the deputy minister explained, “in all countries, the power grids were designed and built in another climate era” and are now called upon to operate in today’s climate conditions. “Power outages are not only a problem of Greece, many countries are facing it” Ms. Sdoukou emphasized.
“Over the weekend, more than 250 people from DEDIE were on hand to deal with the emergency damage to the network, which occurred due to the high temperatures and high loads,” said the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy.
