A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, against whom a case file was filed for violation of the legislation on intellectual property and on the protection of subscription services, respectively.

There was a previous complaint that an unknown person was illegally broadcasting live from its pay TV channels, while advertising his services on the internet, for a monetary fee in the form of a subscription.

The above was brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney’s Office and a preliminary examination was ordered.

According to ELAS, after research and analysis of the resulting digital data, the involvement of the 25-year-old in the case was established.

A subsequent search of his home, in the presence of a judicial officer, revealed the use of unauthorized equipment and the retransmission of content from two subscription companies, without the legal subscription and permission.

Specifically, 8 IPTV Android Box devices, a mobile phone and 2 SIM cards were found and confiscated.

The arrested person was taken to the competent prosecuting authority, while the seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
