The arrest of a 40-year-old woman involved in an ongoing extortion case was carried out, after coordinated actions, by police officers of the Extortion Prosecution Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate. It was preceded by a complaint by a 39-year-old woman, according to which the 40-year-old woman, from the beginning of 2018, extorted and extracted the sum of approximately 80,000 euros.

As stated in a police announcement, the two women, having created a fake profile on a social network, were both chatting with a local man. The 40-year-old falsely reported that the man and his brother, when they realized it was a fake profile, wanted to take legal action against the 39-year-old if she did not systematically pay various sums of money. In addition, according to the police, he created a feeling of fear in the victim by falsely saying that the two men were following them, resulting in her giving the aforementioned amount of money.

In the evening, yesterday, at a pre-arranged appointment in the area of ​​Serres, the 40-year-old appeared and was arrested, when she received an agreed amount of 300 euros.

The arrested person will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
