The two companies aim to reduce the total cost of ownership of electric vehicles for Uber drivers, offering millions of passengers greener rides
BYD today announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Uber, with the aim of offering 100,000 new electric vehicles through the platform in major markets around the world.
The two companies aim to reduce the total cost of ownership of electric vehicles for Uber drivers, offering millions of passengers greener rides.
While Uber drivers are switching to electric vehicles five times faster than private drivers, surveys show that the price of electric vehicles and the availability of financing remain the main barriers to the transition. In addition to their affordable price, BYD vehicles have lower maintenance and repair costs and are ideal for commuting services due to their wide model range, advanced battery performance and excellent build quality.
The two companies will also collaborate on BYD’s future self-driving vehicles, which will be available through the Uber platform. So in this way the technology of autonomous vehicles can be known to the world public.
