The faster we limit the transmission of the disease, the faster we will limit the economic consequences of the spread of the plague, stressed Development Minister Kostas Tsiaras, announcing measures.

Mr. Tsiaras announced in detail:

  • Movement and slaughter restrictions are being extended for another week
  • Letter to EU counterparts to prioritize the issue of the plague and take joint action on the economic consequences as well
  • Two more veterinary laboratories are being created in Larissa and Thessaloniki for faster registration of cases. A total of three will operate.
  • A committee of experts will be created to examine the epidemiological course and whether there were omissions or illegal acts when recording the cases
  • We must see the reorganization of the livestock model in the country and the filling of gaps in the relevant services in the region

The economic damage that is created primarily concerns the breeders, local communities and the national economy, but also the way in which the State will stand next to these people, emphasized Mr. Tsiaras.
