What the Fire Risk Prediction Map of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection predicts for tomorrow Monday
According to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr), for tomorrow, Monday, August 12, 2024, it is predicted:
Extreme fire risk – State of Alert (risk category 5) for the following areas:
- Region of Attica (including the island of Kythira)
- Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Evia)
- Peloponnese Region (Argolida Region, Corinth Region, Laconia Region)
Very high fire risk (risk category 4) for the following areas:
- Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (Evros PE including the island of Samothrace)
- Region of Thessaly (SPorades)
- Region of Central Greece (PE of Fokidas, PE of Boeotia, PE of Fthiotida, PE of Evia including the island of Skyros)
- Region of Peloponnese
- Region of Western Greece (P.E. Achaia, P.E. Ilia)
- South Aegean Region (Cyclades Regional Units)
- Region of Crete
OR General Secretariat of Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) of Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection has informed the competent government agencies involved in the service, as well as the Regions and Municipalities of the above regions, so that they are on increased civil protection readiness in order to immediately deal with any fire incidents.
At the same time, the General Secretariat of Civil Protection recommends that citizens be especially careful and avoid actions in the open air that can cause a fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, the use of machines that cause sparks such as circular saws, welding devices , the use of outdoor grills, the smoking of bees, the throwing of lit cigarettes, etc. Also, it is recalled that during the fire protection season burning of fields is prohibited.
In the event of a fire, citizens are requested to immediately notify the Fire Service at the number 199.
