“At the moment there is no active front of it of fire at Northeast Atticabut only scattered outbreaks”, as pointed out by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikiliasduring the briefing by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection on Tuesday morning

“In these 40 hours, 702 firefighters with 27 forest commando groups, 199 vehicles, 35 aerial vehicles and specifically 17 aircraft and 18 helicopters fought the battle with a superhuman effort. Volunteers, police, army, foresters and forest workers, the Attica Region, municipalities with the help of 112 evacuated and rescued 45 areas”, informed Mr. Kikilias, adding:

“I will say once again that at the first fire on Sunday afternoon the response time was 5 minutes by air and 7 minutes by Fire Department vehicles. The new doctrine combined with the technological support of drones throughout the summer was applied to hundreds of wildfires in extreme weather conditions. We had a danger level of 5 with 7-8 Beaufort winds, prolonged drought and in an inaccessible area, so we are not talking about a simple fire that got away. we are talking about the most difficult and dangerous scenario”.

Concluding, the minister stated that “all the residents of the affected areas knew and know very well that all the fire and police services were by their side from the first moment, without abandoning them”.
