Two cases of drug trafficking in Mykonos were solved by the officers of the Mykonos Police Sub-Directorate, in collaboration with the Special Actions Unit, OPKE and the assistance of the police dog KAGIA. A coordinated police operation was carried out at midday on Monday, during which -4- foreigners were identified and arrested, -2- of which were operating in the context of a criminal organization, while one more person is being sought.

Proceedings were filed against them – as the case may be – for recommendation criminal organization, drug law violations and forgery.

In the 1st case, after appropriate evaluation and utilization of information, -2- foreigners were identified who, at least since May 2024, had set up and joined a criminal organization for the purpose of trafficking narcotics in Mykonos, in order to obtain an illegal financial benefit, acting with distinct roles.

In particular, the -2- members had undertaken the delivery of drugs to the buyers at their place, while the wanted member coordinated the sales of drugs, communicating with potential customers through online applications. He informed about the prices and the type of substances, sending a relevant price list, while also specifying the clothes worn by the carriers so that they could be easily identified.

At the same time, the arrested persons acted in a specific manner of action (modus operandi): to go to the place where the buying and selling took place, they used motorcycles that they rented on a short-term lease from a company in Mykonos, which they changed frequently, in order not to be noticed, they used clothing that referred to tourist attire (swimsuit, open shirt), as well as a protective helmet, while to avoid their identification, they carried the substances inside pharmaceutical pill packs.

In the 2nd case, from the methodical preliminary investigation, and after the analysis of information, -2- foreigners (45-year-old and 44-year-old) were identified, who entered the Greek territory and, at least since August 6, 2024, trafficked narcotics in Mykonos.

To achieve their illegal goal, the two people, using a rented I.X. vehicle and taking measures to conceal their true identity, they trafficked quantities of cocaine, cannabis, crystal methamphetamine and narcotic tablets, making large sums of money.

As it turned out, the two people were hiding the drugs inside metal safety box (safe box) owned by the tourist accommodation where they temporarily stayed, while for their movement they hid the substances in places that made it difficult to locate them (44-year-old woman’s bra).

At the same time, as part of the preliminary investigation, they were found to be in possession of forged documents, which, as it turned out, they used for their illegal entry into our country.

In total, in both cases, from the searches carried out, the following were found and seized:

  • 36.03- grams cocaine,
  • 14.43- grams narcotic substance 2-CB (pink cocaine),
  • 12.58- grams MDMA,
  • 25.24- grams cannabis,
  • 196- ecstasy pills,
  • 97- narcotic tablets,

  • 2.77- grams hallucinogenic mushrooms,
  • 13,834- euros,
  • 340- USD,
  • 2- motorcycles,

The confiscated substances will be sent to the competent Chemical Service for further analysis, while the sums of money will be deposited in the Deposit and Loan Fund.
