The amount of 10,400 euros and jewelry worth 12,000 euros was recovered, according to the victims, after frauds against 4 elderly people, a man who was arrested yesterday in Pieria.

According to the police, accomplices of the arrested man called an elderly man in the area of ​​Pieria and claimed that his daughter was allegedly injured and demanded money to undergo surgery immediately.

In this way, they managed to extract the sum of 1,050 euros from him, which was received by the aforementioned man.

After coordinated actions by the police, he was located in the area of ​​Pieria and arrested, while in a search of his home, the above amount of money was found, which was attributed to its rightful owner.

A vehicle owned by him was confiscated, as well as a mobile phone found in his possession.

From the further investigation of police officersit emerged that in the same way, in the last month they cheated 3 other seniors.

Also, on August 3, they tried to defraud 3 more elderly people, in areas of Pieria, asking for a total of 38,000 euros, but without succeeding.

The police investigation continues both to identify the details of his accomplices, and to ascertain their possible participation in other similar criminal acts.

The arrested person, with the case file filed against him, will be taken to the District Attorney of Katerinis.
