Three dead boys, aged 15, 19 and 20, and a 22-year-old girl fighting for her life in the ICU of the Chania Hospital is the tragic account of the new shocking car accident that took place on the Northern Road Axis of Crete, early Saturday morning.

The two boys breathed their last at the scene of the accident, while the third expired in the ICU of the Chania Hospital, where he was transferred.

How the tragedy happened

It is recalled that the IX car in which the 4 young people were riding, all from Chania, collided with a minivan in which a total of 19 people were riding in the BOAK in the area of ​​Galata and under circumstances that are being investigated by the traffic police.

According to information from police sources, and while the preliminary investigation continues, there are testimonies that the vehicle allegedly attempted to overtake however, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which crossed into the opposite traffic flow and hit the slope on the opposite side of the road.

It is alleged that it even “crawled” for several meters, before it collided head-on with the tourist van, whose driver had moved the vehicle to the far right in order to avoid the collision, which unfortunately did not happen.

The occupants of the vehicle were trapped in the wreckage and the assistance of the Fire Department was needed to extricate them. 4 ambulances of the EKAV rushed to the scene, as well as a team of the Traffic Police BOAK.

The occupants of the minivan were not seriously injured, however they were taken to the Chania Hospital for precautionary reasons. It should be noted that there was also a family with small children in the van.
